They are pursued by the sky pirate Dola and her gang, as well as Muska, a government agent who wants to use Laputa's advanced military technology to rule the world. Muska attempts to activate the city's weapons, forcing Sheeta and Pazu to use a destruction spell to save the world.
Takeaways
Laputa is a floating city with dangerous, ancient weapons that could destroy the world. The city shows what happens when a civilization gets too advanced and forgets its connection to the earth. Muska wants to wake up this old weapon to rule over everyone. The pirates just want to grab some easy treasure. Sheeta's crystal is the key to all of Laputa's power, but she and Pazu decide to destroy the weaponized parts of the city. That leaves only the giant tree and its roots to float peacefully in the sky.
