Overview
In 1979, a group of ambitious young filmmakers travels to rural Texas to shoot an independent adult film. They lease a secluded bunkhouse on a farm owned by Howard and Pearl, an elderly couple who don't know the true nature of the crew's project. The crew hopes to strike it rich in the booming home video market. As night falls, Pearl becomes obsessed with the young actors, and her repressed physical desires turn violent. One by one, the crew members are hunted and killed by the elderly hosts. The surviving members must fight back against their hosts to escape the remote property before morning.
Takeaways
The young filmmakers are so focused on getting rich quick in the new home video market that they don't bother to check if their remote shooting location is safe. Howard and Pearl are bitter about their fading youth, and Pearl's jealousy of the young, attractive actors quickly turns deadly. Since the crew is renting a bunkhouse in the middle of nowhere and has no way to call for help, they are completely on their own when the elderly couple starts hunting them. It is a grim reminder that ambition shouldn't make you blind to the dangers around you, especially when you are isolated from the rest of the world.
