Takeaways

John and Ted's friendship keeps John stuck in a childish rut where he doesn't have to face the real world. Having a living teddy bear around is great for comfort, but it holds John back from growing up and making something of himself. Lori is the one who finally demands that things change, forcing John to face reality. The big struggle for John is figuring out how to stay loyal to his best friend without ruining his relationship with the woman he loves. In the end, they learn that growing up doesn't mean you have to stop caring about your friends, but you do have to set healthy boundaries.
