  • Director: Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson
  • Year: 2023

Overview

Miles Morales reunites with Gwen Stacy and is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider-Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the multiverse's existence. Miles doesn't get along with their leader, Miguel O'Hara, who enforces rigid rules to prevent timeline collapse. When a new threat named the Spot emerges, Miles finds himself at odds with the other Spiders over how to handle the crisis. Miles refuses to accept that his father must die to preserve the multiverse's stability. He escapes the society's headquarters, triggering a high-stakes chase across multiple dimensions to save his family.

Takeaways

The Spider-Society acts like a strict peacekeeping force that keeps the multiverse from collapsing by making sure certain key events happen to every Spider-Person. This way of thinking treats individual lives like simple math equations, sacrificing one person to save the rest. Miguel O'Hara is obsessed with keeping the timeline in order, leaving no room for anyone to try a different path. Miles refuses to accept this fate, believing he can find a way to save his dad and the multiverse at the same time. By breaking out of their headquarters, Miles proves that you can't just predict everyone's future with a computer. His rebellion shows that a giant organization fails when it forgets to treat people like individuals.
