Overview
Jane Nichols is a selfless woman who has served as a bridesmaid twenty-seven times, always putting others' needs before her own. She is secretly in love with her boss, George, but her sister Tess arrives and quickly wins him over. Jane is asked to plan their wedding, forcing her to confront her own habits of keeping quiet. Meanwhile, a cynical reporter named Kevin starts writing a story about her bridesmaid obsession, which makes her question her life choices.
Takeaways
Jane is a classic people-pleaser who spends all her time making other people's weddings perfect while completely ignoring her own happiness. She takes on everyone else's stress and demands, which keeps her friends happy but leaves her feeling empty and unfulfilled. When Kevin writes his article about her, it forces Jane to face the reality of how she is letting people walk all over her. Once she finally speaks up and sets some boundaries with her sister and boss, she is able to stop living in the background and build a real relationship of her own.
