Overview
Elisa works as a mute cleaning lady in a secret government laboratory during the Cold War. She discovers an amphibious creature kept in a water tank, which researchers treat as an asset to exploit. Elisa establishes a connection with the creature by sharing hard-boiled eggs and playing music. When she learns the scientists plan to dissect the creature, she coordinates an escape plan with her friends. They smuggle the creature out of the facility and hide him in Elisa's bathtub. The facility security chief hunts them down, but Elisa successfully releases the creature back into the canal during a heavy rain.
Takeaways
The secret government lab is so focused on cold war rivalry that they treat the amphibious creature like a piece of military property rather than a living being. Because Elisa is a quiet cleaning lady, the arrogant security guards completely overlook her, which lets her slip under their radar and bond with the creature. She proves that connection doesn't require words, building trust through simple gestures like sharing food and music. In the end, the bosses fail to stop the escape because they underestimate the cleaners and don't expect them to pull off such a daring rescue.
