Takeaways

Howl's moving castle is a cozy, chaotic home kept running by the fire demon Calcifer. The war between kingdoms puts pressure on independent wizards like Howl to join the military. Howl uses the castle's magic doors to hide from the government. Getting cursed by the witch actually helps Sophie, letting her speak her mind without worrying about what is expected of her. The deal between Howl and Calcifer is a dangerous bond that is slowly draining Howl's humanity. Breaking that contract saves them both, allowing them to build a peaceful life together.
