Takeaways

High school is ruled by a strict popularity hierarchy led by the Plastics, who keep everyone in line through gossip and exclusion. The Burn Book is a ticking time bomb of secrets, and when it is finally leaked, the entire school descends into absolute chaos because everyone's private insults are exposed. Cady tries to spy on the popular girls, but she gets sucked into their shallow world and starts turning into a mean girl herself. Real peace only returns when Cady takes responsibility for the drama, the clique breaks up, and the students realize that trying to tear each other down doesn't make anyone feel better.
