Overview
Kuzco is a selfish emperor who wants to build a summer home on a hill, ignoring the peasant family living there. His advisor Yzma wants the throne and tries to poison him, but her henchman Kronk mixes up the vials. Kuzco turns into a llama instead and ends up in the jungle. He has to trust Pacha, the peasant whose home he wants to destroy, to get back. They don't get along, but they must cooperate to escape the jungle. Kuzco learns to value others, and they stop Yzma's plot to take the crown.
Takeaways
The empire is run completely on Kuzco's selfish whims, with zero care for how his choices affect normal people. Once Kuzco gets turned into a llama and loses all his royal power, he is forced to see firsthand how hard life is for the peasants he looked down on. Pacha has the real-world survival skills that Kuzco lacks, which gives him the upper hand when they have to work together. Yzma's plan to take over fails because she relies on Kronk, whose kind heart and goofiness keep getting in the way of her schemes. In the end, Kuzco's journey teaches him to stop being so selfish, showing that being a good leader means caring about the people you rule.
