Overview
Two young sisters, Satsuki and Mei, move with their father to an old country house to be closer to their hospitalized mother. The girls discover the house and nearby forest are inhabited by spirits, including a large, friendly creature named Totoro. When Mei hears their mother's condition has worsened, she gets lost trying to walk to the hospital. Satsuki searches for her desperately and asks Totoro for help. Totoro summons the Catbus, a magical multi-legged vehicle, which quickly locates Mei and carries the sisters to the hospital, where they see their mother is recovering well.
