Overview
A pet chameleon gets lost in the Mojave Desert and ends up in Dirt, a dusty town facing a severe water shortage. He accidentally kills a hawk and brands himself as Rango, a tough sheriff. The Mayor of Dirt appoints him to investigate the theft of the town's water supply. Rango discovers that the Mayor is hoarding the water to build a new city, leaving the citizens of Dirt to starve. Rango must find the water and defeat the Mayor's enforcer, Rattlesnake Jake, to save the town.
Takeaways
The town of Dirt shows how easy it is for a corrupt leader to control people when he controls what they need to survive. The Mayor holds onto all the water to force folks off their land so he can build a shiny new city. Rango starts out playing a fake hero character, but the townspeople's belief in him makes him step up and do the right thing. By tracing where the water actually went, he exposes the Mayor's greed and saves the town, showing that standing up to a bully is the only way to get your community back.
